Former AC Milan star Andriy Shevchenko is confident new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti will convince Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at the club.
The Portuguese international's future at the Santiago Bernabeu has been widely debated by the press in recent weeks, with many sources reporting a possible move back to Manchester United.
However, Shevchenko, who played under Ancelotti at AC Milan, is confident his former boss' arrival in the Spanish capital will sway Ronaldo into committing his future to Los Blancos.
"I'm sure Ancelotti will be a friend to all, not just Cristiano Ronaldo, and open doors for everyone in that dressing room, he will shake up Real, but in a good way, like a breath of fresh air. I am sure he will want to convince Cristiano to stay and be the best," he told AS.
"I do not think there are too many teams as suitable for Carlo's type and style of play as Real Madrid. It's good for both parties. They are made for each other."
The former Chelsea striker also admitted to being puzzled as to why Ronaldo would consider leaving Real in the first place.
"I do not know why Cristiano would want to go, when you're in Madrid, you must stay in Madrid," Shevchenko said.
"We would all like to have played there. I do not think you can go much further in your career."
