Fiorentina target Gomez swoop

Fiorentina are still in the hunt for Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, according to the Italian club's general manager Sandro Mencucci.
La Viola are keen on the Germany international, who seems set to leave Bayern this summer after four years with the club, although no agreement has yet been reached.
Gomez still has three years left to run on his contract and Bayern are unlikely to let him leave on the cheap.
Should a deal be feasible, though, Mencucci says his side are in pole position for his signature.
"There is no doubt that Mario Gomez is one of the players we are interested in," he said on eurosport.it.
"I can also tell you that Fiorentina are one of the clubs he is considering should he change clubs."
However, a deal for the 27-year-old could hinge on whether Fiorentina can sell Stevan Jovetic, a target of Juventus.
Funds from that deal would then be reinvested in Gomez, who would certainly strengthen the Viola, according to former Bayern and Fiorentina forward Luca Toni.
"We are talking about a really fantastic player," he told Italy's Lady Radio. "We've got to see how he would adapt to Italian football, but he is a top player.
"I don't know whether they would be able to challenge for the title straight away with him, but they would be getting one of the best strikers in the world."
