HOLDS THE KEY TO SUMMER TRANSFERS ... new man at Madrid Carlo Ancelotti

CARLO ANCELOTTI finally takes charge of Real Madrid today and becomes the puppet-master of this summer’s transfer bedlam.

The former Chelsea chief will be presented at the Bernabeu this afternoon — just like SunSport told you on April 27 in another world exclusive.

And he will start work immediately as he prepares to have a major say on where some of the planet’s biggest players will start the new season.

Ancelotti, 54, must hit the ground running after Paris Saint-Germain’s stubbornness delayed his appointment by well over a month.

Gareth Bale tops the list of the game’s A-listers whose future may well rest on Ancelotti’s decisions.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney and Napoli’s Edinson Cavani will also be waiting to see what the Italian asks of Real president Florentino Perez.

As for Arsenal, they may have to wait a couple of days longer to find out if they have beaten Ancelotti’s former club Juventus in the race for Real Madrid wantaway striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Perez spoke of Bale again as he confirmed Ancelotti’s appointment and insisted an £80million fee would not be a problem for the Tottenham superstar.

He said: “Players are neither expensive nor cheap — it depends on their performances.

“Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo and Beckham gave us an enormous boost in revenues. If you invest in great players, you have more revenues.

“This allows the club firstly to be independent and belong to its members. Secondly, it attracts other great players.”

Perez is also a long-standing admirer of Rooney and Real could make a move for him as soon as they offload Higuain, provided that Ancelotti gives the nod.

Liverpool are already bracing themselves for a £40m raid for Suarez, who is away with Uruguay at the Confederations Cup and has publicly demanded a move to the Bernabeu.

Ancelotti, who has been replaced at PSG by Laurent Blanc, was linked with a move for Cavani while working in the French capital last season.
