Bruce in Bent bid

STEVE BRUCE plans to hijack Newcastle’s move for Aston Villa outcast Darren Bent.
The Toon are dithering over Villa’s £6million asking price and the ex-England striker’s £70,000-a-week wage demands.
And Hull boss Bruce is ready to go back for the hitman, 29, who he signed for Sunderland in 2009.
A source insisted: “Hull wouldn’t baulk at meeting Villa’s asking price.
“Steve made Bent his first signing at Sunderland and he rates him very highly.
“Hull know they need to boost their firepower going into the top flight.”
Villa are ready to take a huge hit on Bent, who they bought from Sunderland for £24m in 2011.
But Bent could face a backlash from Hull fans following his Twitter rant in 2009 when he tried to force through a move from Tottenham to the Stadium of Light.
He posted “Do I wanna go Hull City? NO” — but insisted the tweet was not meant to be disrespectful.
Villa boss Paul Lambert is set to seal a £1.7m, three-year deal for Seville left-back Antonio Luna, 22.
