Málaga has reacted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision to turn down its appeal against the UEFA ban preventing it from playing in next season's Europa League. A statement by the club assured that the court's decision is without "precedent in the realm of sports law in the world of football".
Meanwhile, the player Isco described the CAS ruling as "shameful, regrettable, unfair". "It proves once again that football is run by certain people's own interests," added the midfielder on the social networks.
The Spanish club has stated that it maintains its "position of having complied with the requirements demanded" by the Financial Fair Play regulations established by UEFA.
Málaga stated that it appealed to the CAS at the beginning of the year due to its "complete disagreement with the ban imposed" and backed its position by stating that in May, "the Spanish Football Federation, in accordance with the requirements established by UEFA, approved the application for a UEFA licence by Málaga Football Club".
