Benitez on brink of a Nap hand

RAFA BENITEZ has been offered a swift return to management by Napoli.

The Spaniard is stepping down as Chelsea interim boss after leading the Blues to the Europa League title and third place in the Premier League.

Napoli now want the 53-year-old to replace Walter Mazzarri, who has quit after four years in charge of the Serie A club.

And Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has sent representatives to London to offer Benitez a contract.

The Naples outfit will play in the Champions League next season after finishing as Serie A runners-up.

Former Liverpool boss Benitez previously had a six-month coaching spell in Italy, when he led Inter Milan to the Club World Cup before being sacked in December 2010.

Benitez said last week: “Italy is a special country and a place I like.

“Napoli are a great team.”
