Moyes wants Everton to match points record in his last game in charge

David Moyes wants Everton to equal its record Premier League points total in his last game as the club’s manager on Sunday.

The Scot will take charge of the Toffees for the final time this weekend - against Chelsea - before replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager next season, with a win meaning his side can match its highest-ever points tally of 66.

"We want to try to get our record points total if we can and that's our aim - to do that," Moyes told reporters. "It's a good game to finish. It's not a game where there's nothing on it. They [Chelsea] have had a strong year and winning the Europa League is good."

Moyes revealed he will be happy to speak to chairman Bill Kenwright about his successor, while admitting he endured an emotional night bidding several of his colleagues goodbye.

"Last night was emotional because I said cheerio to a lot of the people who have been close to me,” Moyes said.

Ahead of Sunday's clash at Stamford Bridge, Moyes confirmed that both Leon Osman and Phil Neville will be unavailable for selection with knee problems.
