You’ve let your City down

The eight players who cost Mancini his job

MAN FLEW ... Roberto Mancini was swiftly booted out following FA Cup flop
ROBERTO MANCINI paid the price for a disastrous season when he was sacked on Monday night after 3½ years in charge of Manchester City.
Here, let us to look at the players who let him down in the 12 months following their sensational title triumph.
MARIO BALOTELLI

LOGGERHEADS ... Balotelli rowed with Mancini
BIG things were expecting from the Italian after his starring show at Euro 2012 — yet his season never really took off back at City.
He scored just twice and flopped badly when he was handed a shock start in the derby in December.
Balotelli then tried to sue the club to recoup fines he had been given, fought with Mancini on the training ground and finally was sold to Milan at the end of January.
SAMIR NASRI

CRYING SHAME ... Nasri has admitted to weeping at his own performances this year
AFTER a decent first year at City, the Frenchman has struggled to recapture his form this term.
He was believed to be one of the players Mancini accused of playing at ‘only 50 per cent’.
The manager said he would like to ‘punch’ Nasri when he sees how good he can be.
That provoked an angry response from the midfielder, who has performed better since the furious exchange.
JAVI GARCIA

WHO ARE YA? ... Javi Garcia has barely made an impact
MANCINI swooped to sign the Spaniard for £16million just before the August deadline after finally conceding defeat in his bid to sign Daniele de Rossi.
The former Real Madrid star did not look in the same class as the Italian skipper and has taken a while to adapt to the English game.
He also did not really make his mark while Yaya Toure was away on African Cup of Nations duty.
EDIN DZEKO

BENCH OF FAILURE ... Dzeko has failed to strike when it matters
REMAINS a big favourite with the fans and is actually City’s top scorer in the league this season.
But he failed to take his chances to shine when Mancini started him.
The Bosnian makes an impact as a super sub but does not look a £27million player — just ask Carlos Tevez who clearly does not rate him.
JOE HART

JOE NO ... Hart cocks up against West Ham
FIRMLY established as No1 for both club and country but even he will admit his standards have dropped this season.
Yet he has no serious competition for either.
A high-profile clanger against Southampton proved costly — while others like the one against Tottenham not so much.
He was critisised by Mancini for comments after the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.
VINCENT KOMPANY

YOU VIN SOME, YOU LOSE SOME ... Kompany and Mancini at Wembley
THE skipper was hailed as one of the best centre-backs in the world last season — and on his day he is.
But he looked ordinary in the opening weeks of this campaign and a calf injury kept him out for three months from January.
When he did return, he angered Mancini by making his comeback for Belgium instead of his club.
MAICON

CON ARTIST ... Brazil defender has failed to live up to expectations
BROUGHT in for what looked like a bargain £3.5million on deadline day in August.
But the Brazilian has been battling injuries all season and also failed to make much of an impact.
Even when he was fit, Mancini tended to go with the consistent Pablo Zabaleta instead.
DAVID SILVA

SILVA WHERE? ... David has gone missing this year
THE Spanish magician came close to winning PFA Player of the Year during the title winning season — but has been nowhere near that level this year.
Has looked like his old self on a few occasions but too often he has come up short.
He notably put in a lacklustre display in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
