Rio stampede

RIO FERDINAND is a target for SEVEN clubs from around the world.
The Manchester United defender has had multi-million-pound offers from two Middle Eastern clubs, two from Russia, plus Turkish big-spenders Galatasaray and French outfit Monaco.
Brazilians Flamengo also want the centre-back, 34, which would mean Rio playing in Rio!
John Terry has also been linked with a move to Galatasaray but Ferdinand is their No 1 priority and it is understood they would not sign both players.
Ferdinand’s contract is up for renewal. Retiring boss Alex Ferguson made it clear he wanted him to stay on. There is no suggestion incoming David Moyes thinks any differently — but the pair will need to have a meeting before the player decides what to do.
Ferdinand can earn around £10m at a new club — more than he would get for staying. But money is not the over-riding factor.
A close source said: “Rio and United always agreed he’d talk about his contract situation once the season ended.
“There are a plenty of clubs out there who want him. He’ll be the best free transfer in English football.”
