MANCHESTER CITY are eyeing a summer move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Samba star Fernandinho.

The Brazilian is on a list of targets drawn up by boss Roberto Mancini.

Midfielder Fernandinho has a contract with the Ukrainian club until 2016.

But Shakhtar may be tempted to cash in for an offer of around £20million.

And that could be of interest to City, who are ready to spend big again in a bid to mount another serious title tilt and improve their Champions League showing.

There have been question marks over the long-term futures of Gareth Barry and Samir Nasri in recent weeks and Fernandinho’s versatility appeals to City.

The 27-year-old has spent the last seven years with the Ukrainian outfit but City hope his style would make him well suited to the pace of the Premier League.

A forward — such as Napoli’s Edinson Cavani or Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao — is a priority for City with Mario Balotelli gone and Edin Dzeko possibly following him out.

But they are also looking at their midfield options with Malaga’s Isco another player being watched.

And a move for Spurs superstar Gareth Bale is possible if the London club fail to reach the Champions League.
