SORT IT OUT ... Brendan Rodgers wants Luis Suarez to mend his ways at Liverpool
BRENDAN RODGERS has warned Luis Suarez: You’ll never be a true great until you curb the madness.
Liverpool boss Rodgers has given his bad-boy striker full support since the bite which shamed football earned him a 10-game ban.
Rodgers has slammed the penalty Suarez got for sinking his teeth into Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic as too long — although the club yesterday chose not to contest it.
But although the Uruguayan is widely seen as third to only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on the world stage, his gaffer reckons he will never become one of the game’s legends until he ditches the crazy moments that blight his career.
Rodgers said: “You can never be called a great player when your behaviour is like that.
“Everyone isn’t perfect. If you have a squad of perfect players, you might not have that quality to win.
“Our idea is to help the perception of Luis Suarez, from a world-class player. I know he is a good person but there are many in the country who don’t see him like that because they don’t know him.”
Suarez has never been far from controversy since he swapped Ajax for Anfield two years ago — arriving after a seven-game ban for biting the shoulder of PSV’s Otman Bakkal.
