Alloa Athletic vs Albion Rovers FC preview - Bain blow for Alloa
Posted Saturday, April 27, 2013 by PA
Alloa will be without goalkeeper Scott Bain against Albion after he sustained a leg knock in the 2-1 defeat to East Fife last weekend.
The Wasps will give fitness tests to Darryl Meggat and Michael Doyle and manager Paul Hartley has drafted in 15-year-olds Scott Hynd and Chad Meechan from the club's youth squad as cover.
Hartley said: "This will be a tough game as Albion Rovers are battling for their lives and we have to match that.
"It is probably good to have such a competitive game as that will keep everyone on their toes ahead of the play-offs.
"The club has also given away free tickets to local schools and we want to put on a show for a bigger than normal crowd."
Bottom-club Albion are without the banned Alan Reid and Barry Russell for the must-win game.
Anything less than a three-point haul will see the Coatbridge side relegated, and manager Todd Lumsden's options have been reduced further with Steven Howarth (ankle) joining the long-term injured Mick O'Byrne (ankle) and Tony Stevenson (knee) in missing out.
Lumsden said: "We have to give it our all and get the win and see what happens elsewhere.
"Some people had us relegated several weeks ago but our players have kept fighting to get results and it would be great to get another one and take things into the last week.
"Alloa have given us some uncomfortable afternoons this season but hopefully the roles will be reversed."M
