Torres would welcome Falcao at Chelsea

Fernando Torres believes Radamel Falcao would fit the profile of a "top player" desired by Chelsea in the coming transfer window.

Early on Thursday, German newspaper Bild reported that their sources indicated a deal had been struck to bring Jose Mourinho back to Chelsea while Atletico Madrid's Falcao was also the subject of a multi-million bid by the Blues.
There was been no response from the club on the rumours as they were then involved in preparations for the Europa League semi-final first leg against Basel on Thursday night.
Torres played in that fixture with his team eventually winning the encounter 2-1 with goals scored by Victor Moses and David Luiz. The result means that the Blues are poised to enter the final although they do have to pass the hurdle of a return leg at Stamford Bridge next week.
If Colombian hotshot Falcao was to join the club, though, Torres could struggle to earn first-team berths in such a high-profile game as he already has to contend with competition from felllow striker Demba Ba.
But the Spaniard, who has 20 goals to his name this season, would welcome such competition as he told the Guardian on Thursday, "When you play for Chelsea, you're always hoping big players come and the big names are always being linked with the club."
"You cannot stop that - especially when the summer comes. Every player is welcome at Chelsea, every top player.
"Since I came to Chelsea, only top players have come, so it would not be a surprise if we signed Falcao."
The recent rumours could also hint at disappointment on the part of Russian owner Roman Abramovich on Torres' performances but the former Liverpool striker insists that he feels supported by the club.
“It’s not a problem at all. I have always felt part of the club," he continued.
"Things have changed [since last year] and you could see this season that I’ve been the main striker, then Demba Ba came to join the club.
"But I really think the club always told me the truth.”
Chelsea are next in action in the Barclays Premier League with a home encounter against Swansea before their Europa fixture next Thursday.
