Arbroath 1 : 0 Stranraer - Sheer class for Arbroath

Posted Saturday, April 20, 2013 by PA

Arbroath moved into the play-off places at the top of the Second Division with a hard-fought 1-0 win at home to Stranraer.

The only goal of the game came in the 25th minute, player-manager Paul Sheerin inspiring his team as he played a neat one-two with David Banjo before firing the ball into the net with a left-footed drive.

After the break Stranraer pressed in the hope of claiming a point, but failed to seriously trouble veteran stopper Antony Bullock in the Arbroath goal.

The home side defended in numbers to see the game out and held on to leave themselves two games away securing their place in the play-offs.
