Barry must take pay cut for contract extension at Man City

GARETH BARRY is in line for a contract extension — but faces a pay cut to stay at Manchester City.
Midfielder Barry, 32, has 12 months left on his current deal.
And he was expected to leave the Etihad this summer as City trim salaries in line with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.
But his recent displays — especially in the wins over Manchester United and Chelsea — have impressed boss Roberto Mancini.
And City chiefs plan to sit down with Barry once the season ends and discuss new terms.
Barry, a £12million buy from Aston Villa in 2010, picks up around £120,000 a week.
But City are in the process of driving down salaries, with more emphasis on bonuses.
Barry will be offered a basic wage of £70,000 a week.
He is reportedly happy at the club and success on the pitch would help boost his earnings.
