Jags made to wait for promotion

Partick missed their chance to seal promotion to the Scottish Premier League as they played out a goalless draw with Raith.

The Jags will now have to wait until Saturday's clash with Falkirk, where a point would guarantee their return to the top flight after a nine-year absence.

The best chance of the first half fell to Raith striker Greig Spence, whose effort from 10 yards out was expertly clawed to safety by Partick stopper Scott Fox in the third minute.

The hosts dominated in the second period and had a number of good opportunities to break the deadlock.

Christopher Erskine and Stephen O'Donnell came close for the league leaders but neither of their efforts truly troubled Raith goalkeeper David McGurn.
