Darren Smith scored one and made another to keep Stenhousemuir's play-off hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Queen of the South.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when striker Smith tried his luck from the edge of the area and found the bottom corner of Lee Robinson's goal.

But the Second Division champions equalised on the brink of half-time when defender Christopher Mitchell's free-kick flew into the back of the net from the edge of the area.

Stenhousemuir started the second-half brightly and found themselves in front once more in the 72nd minute when Sean Dickson headed home from 10 yards after good work from Smith, and the Warriors held on to win.
