The Roma captain admits his new derby goalscoring record may be his best, but he would have rather his team won the game
Francesco Totti has admitted that he would rather have secured three points for Roma instead of securing a ninth derby goal for himself.
Totti's 57th minute penalty tied him for the most goals in derby della capitale history, but the side only managed to gain a point in the 1-1 draw with Lazio.
“I wanted [the record] so much, it is my most beautiful record. But I wanted the win more,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
The former Italian international, who converted from the spot after Miralem Pjanic was taken down by Hernanes in the area, added that his side had not performed in the first 45 minutes.
“We threw it away in the first half," he explained.
"Unfortunately we did not get into the game immediately and they put us under great difficulty.”
