SWANSEA goalkeeper Michel Vorm is a shock summer target for Barcelona

The Spanish giants are eyeing the 29-year-old Dutchman as a potential replacement for Victor Valdes.

Long-serving stopper Valdes is refusing to sign a new Nou Camp contract.

Barcelona are expected to cash in this summer though, 12 months before Valdes’ contract runs out.

The La Liga leaders have stepped up their interest recently by sending scouts to the Liberty Stadium to take a closer look at Vorm.

Barca expect even their goalkeepers to slot into their passing style of play and be able to start attacks from the back and reckon Vorm fits the bill.

Swansea have a similar philosophy and Vorm is one of the Premier League’s best stoppers with the ball at his feet.

The Capital One Cup winners are desperate to keep hold of Vorm, whose current contract expires in 2016.

But they also know the lure of Barcelona will be virtually impossible for Vorm to ignore.

Vorm joined the Swans in August 2011 for just £1.5m from Dutch side FC Utrecht.
