Josue Martinez's stint as a New York Red Bull is already over. The MLS club announced on Friday evening that the 23-year-old Costa Rica international had been waived.
“We spoke with Josue and think that this is a mutually beneficial decision,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh in a press release on the team's website. “We want to wish Josue the best of luck in the next stage of his career.”
Martinez was acquired along with allocation money in the offseason deal that sent Sebastien Le Toux back to Philadelphia. He played in one regular season match for New York, coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 loss to the Montreal Impact on March 23.
