Falkirk substitute David Weatherston scored within a minute of coming on to give his side a last-gasp 1-0 victory over Dunfermline.

The best chance of a scrappy first half fell to Dunfermline midfielder Ryan Thomson, who could not keep his 35th-minute header down after rising well to meet Ryan Wallace's corner.

The hosts made a bright start to the second half but failed to make their possession count until the 87th minute when Weatherston scored his fourth goal of the season, having just been introduced from the bench.

Weatherston slotted the ball past Paul Gallacher from 12 yards out after good work from fellow substitute Sean Higgins on the left wing.

The Bairns retained possession in the dying stages to frustrate their visitors, who have now lost four of their last five.
