Harry Redknapp hopes striker Loic Remy will return to full fitness ahead of QPR's next Premier League clash against leaders Manchester United.

The 26-year old has been sidelined with a groin strain picked up against Norwich at the beginning of February, causing him to miss the 4-1 defeat away at Swansea.

But Redknapp has revealed Remy is close to being able to return to full training, though he admits he will have to assess the France international next week.

“Loic’s not training with the main group yet, but we’ll see how he is when we get back to Harlington on Monday,” the QPR boss told the club’s official website.

Remy made an instant impact after his club-record £8 million move from Marseille, scoring on his debut to earn the bottom club a vital point away at West Ham.

The French marksman has scored one goal so far in the two appearances for QPR, and has netted four times in 17 international appearances.

And Redknapp insisted: “He’s not too far away, but we don’t want to take any risks and rush him back too early.”

The QPR boss also revealed goalkeeper Julio Cesar and winger Junior Hoilett should be fit to take on the Red Devils having overcome knocks.

“Julio is okay," he continued. "He’s been with the fitness coaches and physios this week, but he should be fine.

“Junior is fine and has been training with the lads all week. He’s been full-on and it will be a boost to have him available again for the run-in.”
