Come and get me: Newcastle are expected to try again for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Newcastle United are eyeing up deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Isimat-Mirin with the club confirming plans to raid the French market again in the summer.
The Magpies have strong links with several French clubs, having bought the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and Romain Amalfitano from across in the channel in recent years, while all five of their January signings came from Ligue 1.
But despite having nine of their 25-man squad being made up of French-based buys, deals for Saint-Etienne striker Aubameyang and Valenciennes defender Isimat-Mirin are on the cards.
The news comes with managing director Derek Llambias confirming the club will buy from France again in the summer, with unfinished business remaining.
‘There are still targets in France,’ said Llambias.
‘We haven’t finished with the French market. We want to expand in Europe. We’ll be moving around Europe: we already do.’

Striker Aubameyang is believed to be the main target Llambias is talking about, with the hitman subject of a reported failed £8million bid on transfer deadline day.
But Newcastle will try again to land him in the summer, along with exciting centre-back Isimat-Mirin, who is also a target for Liverpool.
Newcastle are also said to have long-term interest in PSV’s Georginio Wijnaldum, although a deal has never been discussed.
