Hypocrites! WBA chief gave me the green light to leave, says rebel Odemwingie
PETER ODEMWINGIE last night accused West Brom of hypocrisy and insisted the club gave him the green light to join QPR.

The Nigerian striker saw his planned £3million move end in farce when he was refused entry to Loftus Road on Thursday. Albion boss Steve Clarke branded Odemwingie’s deadline-day drive to Rangers as ‘total lunacy’.

But Odemwingie, 31, claimed Baggies technical director Dan Ashworth gave his blessing.

And he added that West Brom did not have written permission to give him a medical when he signed for them in 2010.

Odemwingie declared: “I came to this club in an unprofessional way.

“I was not given any written permission by Lokomotiv Moscow when I arrived at this club.

“I arrived and had a medical — I don’t think everything was ‘professional’ when I arrived.”

Speaking about his drive to London, he added: “There was a misunderstanding. I asked, ‘Can I go now?’ I got the go-ahead from what I understand.”

When quizzed if Ashworth had given his blessing, Odemwingie replied: “I can say yes. He can deny it as he has to look good in this situation.”

But Clarke said: “We were as surprised as anybody when he turned up at Loftus Road.

“It was total lunacy to turn up at QPR because the deal was not agreed. If I was Peter, I would be looking for new agents.”
