The Brazil international spent a night in hospital after a sickening head clash in the Coppa italia semi-final with Juventus, but has vowed to be fighting fit to play Genoa
Lazio midfielder Hernanes has declared himself fit for the clash against Genoa following a night in hospital after being stretchered off during his side's 2-1 Coppa Italia win over Juventus.
The former Sao Paulo star clashed heads with Luca Marrone and drew blood before Lazio secured their passage through to the final of the competition.
Hernanes underwent an MRI scan and was discharged after the results showed no serious damage, but claims to have no recollection of the mid-air collision.
“If it were up to me, I’d play the next game [away to Genoa],” the 27-year-old said.
“I started to regain consciousness in the ambulance, but I have no memory of the impact."
"When I arrived at the hospital, they told me we were in the final and the joy drowned out the pain. I want to thank the fans who supported me and the team as they always give us positive energy."
