The Latics forward will be returning to Italy on loan with the Serie A club after failing to settle in at the Premier League since joining the club in 2010 for £6 million
Wigan striker Mauro Boselli has joined Serie A outfit Palermo on loan until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old Argentine joined the Latics in 2010 for a club record fee of £6 million, but the forward has failed to settle in at the DW Stadium.
Boselli has only managed 15 first-team appearances during his time at the club, with the former Estudiantes player failing to find the back of the net in a Latics shirt.
Boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed the forward will be making a return to Italy on loan.
"Mauro will go back to Italy where he had a spell with Genoa," Wigan boss Martinez told reporters.
"That was done earlier. That's the reason he wasn't in the FA Cup squad [against Macclesfield]."
