Robbie Keane is set to train with his former club Tottenham in January as he looks to maintain his fitness before returning to LA Galaxy.

The 32-year-old enjoyed two spells at White Hart Lane before finally departing the club in 2011 to move to LA Galaxy where he played alongside former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham.

Keane spent last January on loan at Aston Villa, netting three times in seven appearances before his temporary spell expired.

Despite speculation over recent weeks of another loan move to a host of Premier League clubs including QPR and Sunderland, the forward decided to use the month to rest from competitive action.

Keane has enjoyed an illustrious career which has seen him become Republic of Ireland’s highest-ever goalscorer - with 54 goals from 122 appearances so far.

He started his career at Wolves and has also played for a host of other teams including Inter Milan, Leeds United and Liverpool.
