Martin Hardie was the hero for Morton as they beat Falkirk 1-0 in a close game at the Falkirk Stadium.

The first half was a scrappy affair with very few clear-cut chances for either team. The visitors had the best opportunity to break the deadlock in the 14th minute when Peter MacDonald drilled the ball goalwards from 20 yards out but his shot was well saved by Michael McGovern.

Falkirk flew out of the blocks in the second half and very nearly took the lead through Thomas Grant four minutes after the restart, but his free kick from range was tipped round the post by Derek Gaston.

But it was Morton who scored the only goal of the game when Hardie volleyed the ball high into the heart of the goal from the middle of the area in the 64th minute.
