Prem clubs can forget Falcao!

RADAMEL FALCAO has warned Chelsea and Manchester City that he will NOT leave Atletico Madrid in January.

The Blues are in pole position to land the man many consider the world’s best striker.

He has a well-publicised £47million get-out clause.

But even if someone meets the asking price tomorrow — when the transfer window opens — Falcao, 26, will stay put.

Crucially though the Colombian superstar left the door ajar for a summer switch.

Falcao, 26, said: “I’m proud that so many great clubs have manifested their interest but they will have to wait till the end of this season. Then we will see what could happen.

“Leaving Atletico in the winter transfer window is absolutely not on. I want to help achieve the objectives we have with my current club.”

The Colombia hitman is a long-standing target for Chelsea and came within a whisker of joining the Blues in the last days of the winter transfer window.

His hat-trick in the UEFA Super Cup final, as Atletico trashed Chelsea 4-1, started the countdown to the end of Roberto Di Matteo’s reign.

It is one of the worst-kept secrets in football that Chelsea have stolen a march on all their rivals — but one should not discard City.

Boss Roberto Mancini has repeatedly insisted his team are struggling to find the net.

And, despite hitting four past Norwich, questions persist on the long-term future of Mario Balotelli and even Edin Dzeko.

Falcao’s words are certainly genuine.

He enjoys adulation at Vicente Calderon — the fans idolise him as they did Fernando Torres when he was there.

Boss Diego Simeone’s Atletico doubled his salary to £5million a year in summer to convince him to stay on. They are second in La Liga and losing him in mid-season would be a crushing blow to Simeone and the fans.

So it seems that Chelsea will have to wait till the summer.
