I live for Roma, says De Rossi as he dismisses Man City speculation

I have a say

Daniele De Rossi has reiterated his desire to stay at Roma, as the January transfer window looms despite the Italy international being far from a regular in coach Zdenek Zeman's plans this season.

The 29-year-old put in a storming performance in the Giallorossi's 4-2 victory over Massimiliano Allegri's side last weekend, and he has since affirmed his commitment to his boyhood club, insisting he has never contemplated a move away from Stadio Olimpico.

“I was born in Rome. For me, it is the normal thing to play right here. I never tried, or really wanted, to play outside for another team," he told the New York Times. “For me, it is amazing, great. I first came to the training centre when I was 12 years old. It’s my home."

There has been talk of De Rossi joining Manchester City at the upcoming transfer window, but he says Roma president James Pallota, who is from Boston, says De Rossi is not going anywhere.

"Mr. Pallotta said I am not on the market, not for sale," De Rossi told the newspaper. "I repeat, I still love this city and the club. Everything I love is here. It would be so difficult for me if I have to change. If some clubs want me, my manager will have to talk with them. I don’t hear this rumor of Manchester City.
