Brechin vs Arbroath preview - Brown missing for Brechin

I have a say

Brechin will be without Jonathan Brown due to a knee injury as they host neighbours Arbroath with a place in the play-off zone available to the winners.

The Glebe Park side were denied a game against Ayr on Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch, with manager Ray McKinnon keeping his fingers crossed that this one gets the go-ahead.

He said: "The week before I took over Arbroath won 3-1 over Brechin so this game will show me how much progress we have made.

"We have lost our last two games but they were away to an SPL side and then the Second Division leaders and we did enough to suggest we are improving.

"Arbroath did really well against Celtic recently so it will be a real test."

Arbroath have a full squad available for the trip as they look to improve a recent record of only one win in seven Second Division games that has seen them slip into fifth place.

Gayfield manager Paul Sheerin reckons his men will need to overcome a very different Brechin side than the one they defeated earlier in the season.

He said: "The last time we played Jim Weir had just left and Ray McKinnon had not started and we won reasonably comfortably. It will be different now as they have done really well under Ray.

"It is our second derby game in a row and if we show the same spirit that we did to grab a point at Forfar I'm sure we will do well."
