Reading boss McDermott hoping to reinforce in January

I have a say

Reading manager Brian McDermott says he is hoping to add reinforcements for his squad in January as his side looks for ways to retain its place in the Premier League.

The Royals are six points adrift of safety and have won just once this season, with their misery compounded by a 1-0 loss against fellow promoted club Southampton. McDermott's side won 3-1 at St Mary's last season, but while the big-spending Saints were able to purchase Gaston Ramirez for 12 million pounds over the summer, the Royals were largely limited to free transfers.

McDermott says that Reading is actively scouring the market for new additions, while he continues to try and find a winning formula by working with the players he currently has at his disposal.

"We are always looking for new players, that is part of the job really as a manager," McDermott told talkSPORT.
"Our scouting system is always trying to find players, but we work with the players we have got and we don't talk about the players we haven't got. We will see what happens in January."
