Atalanta vs Parma preview - Colantuono: We are in charge of our destiny

Head coach Stefano Colantuono hopes a period of self-recrimination is nearing an end as Atalanta look to emerge from a losing streak with victory over Parma.

The ex-Palermo boss was forced to deny reports of a training ground bust-up this week as the Nerazzurri returned from a 2-1 defeat at Bologna, their third consecutive reverse in Serie A.

Roberto Donadoni's Parma may have played the more enterprising football this season but they are only two points and three places better off than their hosts.

Colantuono told La Repubblica: "We are still in sackcloth and ashes but we mustn't forget that we've picked up nearly 20 points. We are in charge of our own destiny in the league.

"There was no argument. We all had a discussion and it was made clear that everyone needs to communicate more.

"It's been a normal week with a lot of healthy discussions, which we always have, even when we are winning games."

The 50-year-old faces a tricky selection dilemma, with a midweek Coppa Italia meeting with Roma placing extra physical demands on his injury-stricken squad.

"I will make my choices with Tuesday's game in mind," he added. "It's doubtful whether (Giuseppe) De Luca and (Maxi) Moralez will play, but (Adriano) Ferreira Pinto is available.

"(James) Troisi has had `flu for two days and will not be fit. (Davide) Bellini, though, is available and will play from the start."

Parma's own absentee list is starting to shrink but Donadoni still has a bitter taste in his mouth following last weekend's 2-1 loss at Lazio.

Jaime Valdes and Aleandro Rosi have trained with the rest of the first team this week and should feature at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

The Parma boss told Gazzetta.it: "We want to redeem ourselves after Sunday's defeat. We still think that we performed well, though.

"We want to get back to winning ways and get over this bit of bad luck that has been following us around.

"Against Atalanta we expect another intense battle - the Bergamese are having a great season."

Ishak Belfodil could start up front ahead of Amauri despite appearing to make a vulgar gesture to the bench after scoring against Lazio.

The Algerian later apologised, saying: "That ugly gesture was not aimed at anyone in particular. (Marco) Marchionni went to take the penalty and I was not convinced so I demanded to take it myself and, in the end, it went well.

"I apologised to everyone, my friends, the coach, the club, because sometimes adrenaline plays tricks on you. I hope the fans forget it in a hurry."
