The Montreal Impact made their first move of the MLS offseason on Wednesday as the club traded defender Josh Gardner to Sporting Kansas City in exchange for a second round pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft.

The Freeport, Texas, native only managed to play a mere six games this year with the Impact as a series of injuries kept him on the sidelines for the majority of the season.

The Impact now have two first round and two second round draft picks in the upcoming draft, to be held on Jan. 17 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Montreal is still on the lookout for a new head coach.
