Moratti hopes for Sneijder resolution

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has not given up hope of retaining the services of Wesley Sneijder.

The Dutch midfielder was left unsatisfied by the terms of the new deal offered to him by Inter Milan, after the club stipulated a need to cut his wages. Unwilling to accept a reduction in salary, Sneijder has stalled on his decision to sign on the dotted line.

Nerazzurri manager Andrea Stramaccioni has left the former Ajax star out of his starting line-up for several games in a row, prompting rumours that the club are attempting to "blackmail" Sneijder into agreeing to the terms on offer.

With teams such as Manchester United reportedly interested in snapping up his services, it appears increasingly likely that the 28-year old will leave the San Siro in the upcoming transfer window.

Moratti told La Gazetta dello Sport that the club are not able to offer Sneijder anything better than what they have placed on the table. As such, he accepted Inter could lose the Utrecht-born player's services.

"He has the right to say no to our proposal. There's little room for a counter-proposal, though. His recent comments seem to suggest he's further away from Inter than I thought," Moratti admitted.

"He either accepts our proposal or he will leave the club."

Nevertheless, Moratti insisted he has yet to receive any bids for Sneijder and hinted that he remains hopeful of both parties reaching a compromise.

"We have not received any offers for him yet. We would already be two steps further ahead if we had received any bids," he shared.

"I do not think the situation cannot be solved. Things can change quite sudden in football."

Inter Milan welcome an in-form Napoli for their Serie A game this Sunday.
