Arsenal plot fresh Reina swoop – and Kop will let him go
ARSENAL are poised to swoop for Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina in January — and Kop boss Brendan Rodgers would let him go.

Reina was furious when Liverpool rejected a £20million bid from the Gunners in 2010.

But it looks like the Spaniard would be allowed to leave this time.

Moves have already been made to unite Reina with his fellow Spaniards and close pals Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla at the Emirates.

His wages, thought to be over £100,000 per week, were a stumbling block for the Gunners. But it now seems the London club is ready to commit big-money on top of a transfer fee of about £10m.

Rodgers would be prepared to listen to offers for the keeper, provided he can secure a replacement.

The Liverpool manager is known to be a fan of Birmingham keeper Jack Butland but is also keen on Hannover’s Ron-Robert Zieler and Stoke’s Asmir Begovic.

Reina complained in his autobiography about Liverpool blocking the Arsenal move.

He said: “Arsenal offered £20m, a phenomenal amount for a goalkeeper.

“Part of me felt that I was well within my rights to consider my future.

“When Liverpool received the bid, they rejected it. I was told that my continued presence was crucial to the sale of the club. I was simply a bargaining chip in the sales process.”
