Pardew: We will sue FIFA

SIDELINED ... Papiss Cisse
NEWCASTLE are threatening to take FIFA and Senegal to court following a furious row over striker Papiss Cisse.
Boss Alan Pardew was fuming as the Toon were stopped from playing Cisse when Senegal invoked the ‘five-day rule’ after internationals.
Without him, Newcastle slid to a second straight defeat at St James’ as Swansea won 2-1.
Pardew said: “We kept getting promised the decision was going to be overturned and Senegal were going to let Papiss play.
“But we kept waiting and waiting and it was about 1.40pm that we finally found out that it was not going to happen.
“It affected our preparation and having him missing was a blow to us.”
Cisse, 27, was pulled out of the midweek friendly with Niger with a back injury. But the club reckon the decision to bar Papiss yesterday was retaliation after he was stopped from appearing in last summer’s Olympic Games.
And in a strongly-worded statement, Newcastle revealed they were ‘dismayed’ and ‘angry’ at Senegal’s stance.
It went on: “It is the club’s genuinely held view that the Senegalese Federation have an agenda against Papiss and/or Newcastle United.
“The club will speak to its legal advisors to see if it has recourse against the Senegal Federation and/or FIFA.”
Cisse is now considering quitting as Senegal skipper.
He fumed: “I am deeply disappointed by the actions of my Federation which have punished me and my club.”
