Siena vs Pescara preview - Bolzoni eyes long haul

Siena can move off the foot of the table for the first time this season with a win over Pescara at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday, but midfielder Francesco Bolzoni says his side's struggles would not be over so quickly.

The Bianconeri started the season with a six-point penalty which they have slowly managed to eat into, and now they are three points away from rising above Bologna, Genoa and Sampdoria.

While Bologna could remain above the Robur with victory over Palermo, the Genovese clubs are not in action until the evening, when at least one is guaranteed to drop points and remain behind Siena in the event of victory over Pescara.

"It's going to be important to play this game with the same attitude as we play every game," said Bolzoni.

"Victory would allow us to move above other teams and it would be important to enable us to think differently, but we all know that we are going to have to fight to the end to stay up.

"Our coach will be able to motivate us enough without getting carried away, as always."

Pescara need to make amends for a 6-1 humiliation at home to Juventus a week ago in "our most important game of the season so far," according to captain Emmanuel Cascione.

"We have got to concentrate for the full 90 minutes and we cannot either close up or exaggerate too much in attack, like against Juve," he added.

"We conceded six against the Bianconeri, but we never gave up.

"We are all united and we know that it is going to be a battle to the end."

The future of coach Giovanni Stroppa is back in discussion after that defeat to Juve, but Cascione says he has cleared the air with his coach after being left out recently.

"It's hard to be left out, but the coach's decisions must be respected," he said at a press conference.

"We have exchanged opinions and cleared things up."
