Dante: I joined Bayern to win titles

I have a say

Bayern Munich center back Dante has admitted that his main motivation for signing with the club was the fact he has the opportunity to win silverware.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach defender made the move to Bavaria for a fee of 4.7 million euros during the summer transfer window, after he played a big part in Gladbach's successful 2011-12 campaign where it finished fourth in the Bundesliga.

Having never lifted a major trophy during his career, the 29-year-old used to dream about it prior to his transfer to Jupp Heynckes' side:

"Between the [contract] offer and my signature, I thought about it all the time," he told Bild. "Since my first day at Bayern I stopped dreaming. Now I just want to concentrate on the next match and win. But the desire for titles was the main motivation to come here."

He then went on to talk about his relationship with recently imprisoned, fellow Brazilian Breno, who he hopes to see return to action at some point:

"We would like to [visit him in prison] as well, but it is very difficult since visiting hours are limited and his wife comes first. We pray for him, hoping that he is doing relatively well and that one day he can play football again," Dante explained.

Bundesliga table-toppers Bayern are preparing to travel to Nurnberg for the Bavarian derby on Saturday.
