Karim Benzema: Back in training after thigh injury
Karim Benzema returned to full training with Real Madrid on Wednesday and could be set for a first-team return against Athletic Bilbao this weekend.
The French striker was forced to miss last Sunday's Primera Division match at Levante due to an adductor thigh muscle injury, but it appears to have only been a short-term problem.
The Spanish champions' website reported Benzema was able to take part in a training session led by manager Jose Mourinho which featured the club's players who are not on international duty this week.
Benzema was not included in the France squad for their match against Italy in Parma on Wednesday night because of his injury.
After recovering from his fitness problem, Benzema will be keen to stake his claim for a regular start for his club, and a thigh injury affecting Gonzalo Higuain promises to give him the opportunity over the coming weeks.
