QPR does not belong at the bottom of the league, says Cisse

I have a say

QPR forward Djibril Cisse has stated his side is better than its cellar-dwelling record despite failing to secure a win in its first 10 games of the season as Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw at Loftus Road to Reading.

The French striker equalized for the hosts in the second half, and despite a strong attacking display, they failed to claim victory as they climbed above Southampton to 19th position solely on goal difference. But the 31-year-old Cisse insists his side has enough quality to rise up the table and avoid relegation - but says they must forget "names and talking" and start finishing their chances to climb to safety.

"We had the opportunities to win. When you have clear chances you have to score. That's what we're lacking at the moment, but we're going to keep trying," he told Sky Sports. "You see the quality we have in the team, we don't belong to the bottom of the league; no disrespect to the other teams, but we don't belong here.

"Football is on the pitch, it's not in the names or the talking. We have to deliver every weekend."

Speaking about his well-taken equalizer, Cisse said he had to adapt quickly as Sean Morrison missed Jose Bosingwa's cross.

"It was not easy because I wanted to hit it first-time, but the defender tried to head the ball and missed it, so I went safe and controlled it," Cisse said.

The striker believes his side can get clear of danger as the quality of its soccer is good enough, but the club must knuckle down and become more dangerous in front of goal.

"To be fair we're playing good football, we're creating chances but we don't score or we don't score enough, because the other team score more than us," Cisse said. "We have to correct that and I'm sure we're going to be fine."
