Siena vs Genoa preview - Investigation begins into Siena slide

President Massimo Mezzaroma has pledged to root out the cause of Siena's recent self-destruction, insisting head coach Serse Cosmi is not to blame.
The Bianconeri remain rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table after a run of five games without victory, including four losses, the most recent of those being Wednesday's capitulation at Cagliari.
Their opponents Genoa are also struggling in the lower reaches of the table but morale is at an all-time low at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, with Rome-based Mezzaroma determined to work out where the problem lies.
He told Tuttosport: "There is not a change of manager on the horizon.
"Cosmi still has the full backing of the club and we are not looking elsewhere in that regard.
"We apologise to the fans because no-one is currently worthy of the shirt.
"The performance was worse than anyone could have possibly imagined. The team weren't even playing football.
"I will speak with the manager, director (Stefano) Antonelli and with several players to find out what happened.
"We need to look within to understand why this has happened, but Cosmi is not the problem.
"The club does need to do something soon, so we can guarantee our survival."
The Robur's cause is not helped by the suspension of defenders Neto and Felipe with Alessandro Rosina, Matias Martinez and Ribair Rodriguez all unavailable through injury.
There is drama among Genoa's hierarchy too as Grifone president Enrico Preziosi responded to defeat against Fiorentina by sending two club directors "on holiday."
Director of sport Stefano Capozucca and director of youth Mario Donatelli are unlikely to return their original roles, if they return to the Marassi at all.
Preziosi told Gazzetta.it: "They have not been fired, they have gone on holiday while we look at other people who could replace them.
"They are not in our future plans. I cannot blame them for (Thursday's) defeat, they didn't play.
"But we can no longer count on them."
Rossoblu head coach Luigi Del Neri remains in place for now, but he will have to secure his first win in charge without the services of Juan Manuel Vargas, Marco Borriello, Bosko Jankovic and Marco Rossi.
