VILLA SPARK ... Gabby wants side to kick on
GABRIEL AGBONLAHOR has told Aston Villa to stop dreaming of Wembley — and start climbing the Premier League table.
Paul Lambert’s men are just two ties away from a Capital One Cup final in their bid to go one better than 2010 when they were runners-up to Manchester United.
Strikes from Agbonlahor and two-goal Christian Benteke sealed a gutsy 3-2 win at Swindon on Tuesday night to put Villa in the last eight.
Agbonlahor said: “Hopefully this win will give us some confidence but we’re not thinking of Wembley right now.
“We’ve got a lot of young players. Everyone is gelling together, and a cup run can lift spirits.”
Villa are two points above the drop zone and go to Sunderland on Saturday. Agbonlahor added:
“We hadn’t won for a few games and that Swindon win will give us a boost. Hopefully we can take that into the Sunderland game.”
