Pardew: Pep, Mou will come to BPL

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew stated he learnt a lot from Jose Mourinho and predicts that the Portuguese and Pep Guardiola will come to the Premier League in the future.

Mourinho took the league by storm after his appointment as Chelsea coach in 2004 and helped the Blues win their first title in 50 years. The side that he helmed were a solid defensive unit and still hold the record of the least goals conceded and the most points secured in a single season.

Pardew, who was a manager at West Ham during the three years that Mourinho was in charge at Chelsea, praised the Portuguese coach for bringing in several novel managerial qualities to the Premier League. He feels that he learnt a lot from watching Mourinho in action and attempted to incorporate the current Real Madrid coach's style at Newcastle.

The Newcastle manager took over from Chris Hughton when the Magpies were floundering in the Premier League and helped steady the ship. And last season, he impressed observers with his management of the side as he led them to a fifth-placed finish in the league, winning both the League Managers' Association's and Premier League's Manager of the Year award.

But Pardew feels that Mourinho and former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola are the world's best coaches and predicts that the duo will relocate to England sooner than later.

"Unfortunately Jose is not in the country at the moment, but hopefully he will be coming back here soon," Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle.

"Pep will be, too. And then we really will have the best coaches in the world.

"That's the one beauty about this country - we've had a melting pot of the best coaches. That's why it is the best league in the world."

And he lauded Mourinho's work at Chelsea and stated that he "nicked" several managerial qualities from the former Porto coach.

"I used to watch Chelsea regularly because it was on my doorstep. It was when Jose Mourinho was there. There were things that I was seeing that I hadn't seen in English football before.

"Some of the managerial traits that he was bringing I've learned from, and I can't help but say I've nicked a few of them.

"The big managers that I've come across and been lucky enough to deal with have influenced me. The impact of the foreign managers can't be lost on my education. Arsene Wenger is another."

Newcastle are not doing too well this season and currently lie in tenth place in the Premier League and next face Liverpool on Sunday.
