Stranraer vs Forfar Athletic preview - Aitken focused on three points

Stranraer interim boss Steven Aitken has close to a full squad to choose from against Forfar as he takes charge of the club's first game since manager Keith Knox was dismissed.

Aitken has grabbed the reins after Knox was sacked earlier this week with the Blues bottom of the Second Division. David MacGregor will be the only absentee as he misses out with his knee injury.

Aitken said: "The mood in the camp was very low at the beginning of the week as you would expect. By the end of the week things had improved and the players now feel they have a point to prove in the game against Forfar.

"I am interested in the job but winning this game is my priority at the moment and I am concentrating on achieving that only. It will not be easy as Forfar will be looking to bounce back from a couple of defeats of their own."

Forfar are without Martyn Fotheringham for their long trip south.

The midfielder is suspended following his sending-off in last weekend's 3-0 defeat at East Fife.

The Loons also have other problems with Odmar Faeroe, Keith Gibson, Barry Sellars and Gavin Swankie all ruled out through injury.

Manager Dick Campbell is looking for a massive improvement from his remaining squad after last weekend's convincing reverse.

"The sending-off was a silly one and overall we were poor last week," Campbell said. "We need to get back to doing the basics of the game well and if we do that I am sure everything else will fall into place.

"Stranraer will be looking for a lift after losing their manager so we need to be on our guard."
