Preview of the Chicago Fire and D.C. United Game on Oct. 27, 2012: MLS Fan View

The Chicago Fire will face D.C. United on Oct. 27 at Toyota Park in their final game of the regular MLS season. The team is currently in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, and a win would allow the Fire to move up to second place. However, a loss could push Chicago down to fourth or fifth position in the standings and force the team to participate in the first elimination round of the MLS playoffs.

Chicago Fire vs. D.C. United

After losing the last game on Oct. 20, the Chicago Fire will be searching for redemption at Toyota Park on Oct. 27. They no longer have a chance of surpassing Sporting Kansas City's first place position in the Eastern Conference, but a win could help them move up to second place. D.C. United is currently in second position with 57 points.

The Chicago Fire lost to D.C. United in Aug. 2012 with a final score of 4-2, and Oct. 27 will be the second time the teams meet this season. Arne Friedrich and Guillermo Franco will be available for the match while Pavel Pardo may be able to participate because he was seen in training this week. Chicago has lost three of the last four matches and had a lackluster performance against the New England Revolution on Oct. 20. On the other hand, D.C. United have won five of their last six games and have not lost to Chicago at Toyota Park since 2006.

Chicago Fire Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

The MLS playoffs will not be the only focus at the match on Oct. 27 because the Chicago Fire will go pink for breast cancer awareness. Before the game, breast cancer survivors and heroes will be invited to the field to create a human awareness ribbon that will be photographed. The Chicago Fire will also be using a pink soccer ball, pink towels and special uniforms. Autographed items will be available on the MLS auction site for fans to purchase later. The game will be a part of the MLS Soccer Kicks Cancer and breast cancer awareness campaigns.
