We've got to have faith in the coach and ourselves, says Milan's Ambrosini

I have a say

The Rossoneri veteran believes that their campaign can still be salvaged, despite their recent results, but only if the players believe in themselves and remain united

AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini says that he is currently experiencing his toughest time at the club, as the Serie A outfit have suffered their worst start to a league season in over 70 years.

The Rossoneri face Malaga in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Ambrosini believes that the players must have confidence in their own abilities, as they attempt to correct their slumping form.

The 35-cap Italy international believes that momentum is key to righting the team's fortunes, which could start with a win in Spain, but only if Milan's players add extra steel to their individual performances.

"This is the toughest moment I have ever experienced at Milan, but it mustn't frighten us too much," explained the 35-year-old, speaking to reporters.

"We must be concerned and be self-critical, but also have faith in our abilities and restart from there. It is only normal that at a time like this there will be a sense of worry in the locker room, but we need the strength to analyse what is happening and where we went wrong on an individual level.

"We've got to have faith in our team-mates and the coach. Victories help self-confidence to grow and this team really needs it. At this moment each of us are asked to look within ourselves and find that little bit more. We can emerge from this situation together," he reasoned.

Ambrosini also thanked and sympathised with their supporters, in what he understands is a difficult period for them.

"The fans have been wonderful. They always showed how much they care about the jersey and are proving it even more now that the results are not arriving. They confirmed that yesterday and we are grateful to them," he said.
