Parma coach Roberto Donadoni has a new contract to look forward to if things go well against Sampdoria on Sunday.
Despite winning only one game out of seven so far this season, his current deal is being renegotiated and he could put pen to paper on a new contract after the game against Samp.
"From our side, there is the desire to extend his contract and from his side, there is the desire to stay," said the club's president Tommaso Ghirardi.
"We are defining the figures and the duration, which are important details, but we are confident that we will be able to announce a contract renewal next week."
Ghirardi will wait a little longer before evaluating his side's start to the season, meanwhile.
"We need to wait for the next three games before we can draw our preliminary conclusions," he said.
"After 10 games of the season, you can understand what your objectives can be.
"I have faith in this team, in these players and in the coach."
Sampdoria's fans will show the faith they have in their team by making the short trip to Emilia-Romagna en masse on Sunday.
The two clubs' fans have developed a bond over the years which means the game is a low-risk one, and Samp's requests to the Parma authorities for the visiting stands to be opened fully have been accepted, meaning up to 5,000 Blucerchiati fans are expected at the Stadio Tardini.
Simon Poulsen should also make the trip, despite missing Denmark's game against Italy in midweek due to injury.
Sergio Romero, Jonathan Rossini and Nenad Krsticic are also expected to be taken along by Samp coach Ciro Ferrara after returning from international duty unscathed.
