The combative midfielder has set his sights on the full three points at the weekend as the San Siro side are looking to leave their poor start to the season behind them
Massimo Ambrosini has stressed that it would be a huge confidence boost for AC Milan if they beat Inter in Sunday's Derby della Madonnina.
The Rossoneri have been struggling to find their best form so far this term, but the experienced midfielder feels they have improved in the past few weeks, and is hopeful that they can get back on track at the weekend.
"The derby is a game that everyone wants to play, and it can have a big impact on the rest of the season," Ambrosini told Sky Sport Italia.
"We have made steps forward in the last few matches, and now we have to turn this progress into results. A win against Inter would really give us a confidence boost.
"The new formation is good, but it all depends on how the team interprets the game-plan. It is very important in modern football that a team can change its tactical set-up during a match. It’s a sign of flexibility."
