Bologna vs Catania preview - Bologna looking to spring a surprise

I have a say

Bologna will be looking to rediscover their penchant for the unexpected when they host Catania at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

The Rossoblu came from behind to beat Roma 3-2 a fortnight ago, a result which led coach Stefano Pioli to call on them to go on a run that would give them some early-season momentum.

Despite that, though, it remains their only victory of the season, with disappointing scorelines against Pescara (1-1) and Siena (1-0 loss) following.

The last of those games, the midweek defeat at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, was a particularly frustrating one for the former Fiorentina defender, who saw his side batter their hosts for 90 minutes, only to concede an injury-time winner to Emanuele Calaio.

He was also sent to the stand for arguing with the officials.

"Will I sleep? I get little sleep regardless," said Pioli to Football Italia when asked about his side`s failure. "We're already thinking about the next game."

He will have plenty on his mind too, with Catania sitting admirably in the top half after a disrupted summer which saw them lose coach Vincenzo Montella.

Replacement Rolando Maran has impressed, though, with Wednesday`s 2-1 win over Atalanta putting them seventh.

He has shown faith in Argentinean playmaker Pablo Barrientos too, and the 27-year-old has repaid him with some polished performances.

"I'm happy to be here," he said after scoring the winner in midweek.

"I went a long time without playing, but the support has been important."
